That the Parliament celebrates the success of Clickimin Leisure Complex, formerly Clickimin Centre, which marked 40 years since its opening on 1 April 2025; understands that the facility was officially opened by the Olympian, Tessa Sanderson, in 1985 and was designed by the architect, Allan White, of FaulknerBrowns, who recently returned to visit the site 40 years on; further understands that, over the years, Clickimin Leisure Complex was expanded and now offers a swimming pool, bowls hall, squash court, gym, outdoor sports facilities and a 60:40 indoor training facility alongside a health suite, sensory rooms, a multi-use studio and main hall, as well as event and conference facilities; congratulates Shetland Recreational Trust, which owns and operates Clickimin Leisure Complex, on this significant milestone; notes that, over the 40 years, 20 million customers have visited Clickimin Leisure Complex; further notes that Clickimin Leisure Complex has hosted many events over the decades, including the 2005 Island Games and inter-county sport competitions, as well as providing a home for gigs for musicians such as The Smiths and The Proclaimers, comedians, including Billy Connolly, and events, including the Shetland Folk Festival, the Rising North Music Festival and the Shetland Fiddle and Accordion Festival; believes that Clickimin Leisure Complex is a valuable community space for Shetlanders, and wishes the team at the leisure complex well as it plans the 40th anniversary celebrations for summer 2025.
