That the Parliament congratulates Ruairidh Morrison from Inverness and Claire Frances MacNeil from Barra on their outstanding achievements in winning the esteemed top prizes that are the men’s and women’s Traditional Gold Medals at the Royal National Mòd 2024; acknowledges the remarkable talent and dedication of all participants, judges and volunteers who contributed to the success of Scotland’s premier celebration of Gaelic language, music, sports, art, and culture; notes what it considers to be the significant economic impact of the event, which brought over £2 million to the local economy of Oban and attracted approximately 10,000 visitors, a 20% increase from the previous year; commends the efforts of An Comunn Gàidhealach in organising this nine-day festival across 12 venues in Oban, and welcomes the announcement that the Royal National Mòd will take place in Lochaber in 2025, continuing to celebrate and promote Scotland’s rich Gaelic heritage.
