George Brown & Sons Engineers 200 Years in Business

That the Parliament recognises George Brown & Sons Engineers of Leith for being in business for 200 years, as it prepares to move on from its current home in Leith on 21 October 2024, and begin its next chapter in bigger premises in East Lothian as the business continues to grow; understands that George Brown & Sons Engineers was founded in 1828, and has successfully navigated economic depressions, world wars, the COVID-19 pandemic, and industry developments, remaining a solid fixture on The Shore in Leith throughout this time; notes that the organisation has provided a range of engineering services, including ship repair and provision of aircraft carriers to customers in the UK and oversees from its workshops in Leith; believes that its relocation will protect the jobs of its existing 50 employees and allow the business to expand and utilise modern working practices; further believes that George Brown & Sons Engineers is a respected and trusted local company that has continued to grow from strength to strength; thanks George Brown & Sons Engineers for what it sees as its remarkable contribution to Leith and for providing evolving and expanding services to meet the needs of industry throughout the last 200 years; commends everyone involved with the company for successfully contributing to Scotland's economy, both locally and nationally, and wishes the organisation and its staff every success in the new premises.
