That the Parliament commemorates the 60th anniversary of BP receiving its first North Sea exploration licence; notes that this landmark licence was granted in 1964, leading to the discovery of gas at the West Sole Field in 1965; recognises what it sees as BP's significant contribution to the Scottish economy, supporting approximately 23,000 jobs, equivalent to one in every 260 Scottish jobs; acknowledges that, in 2023, BP spent £720 million with Scottish suppliers and contributed £2.2 billion in gross value added (GVA) to the Scottish economy; commends BP's increasing investment in the renewables sector and low carbon energy, particularly through projects such as the Morven Windfarm and the Hydrogen Hub, in partnership with Aberdeen City Council; appreciates what it sees as the company's role in Scotland's energy transition, and looks forward to BP's continued contribution to Scotland's energy sector and economy in the years to come.
