That the Parliament notes reported plans at Robert Gordon University (RGU), announced in 2024, to make up to 135 staff members redundant following the voluntary severance taken by 130 individuals; understands that the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS) has achieved a mandate for strike action following a ballot of its RGU membership, and that the initial day of strike action is planned for 15 April 2025; recognises the role of the EIS in opposing what it sees as significant job cuts and compulsory redundancies; appreciates and values the organising and effort that goes into industrial action; commends what it sees as the EIS’ ongoing commitment to protecting jobs, learning and teaching, and extends its best wishes for the continued efforts of the EIS and its membership in advocating for what it considers to be a fair resolution to the current dispute and a positive future for the university.
