Tidelines Book Festival, Irvine

That the Parliament acknowledges the efforts of the Tidelines Book Festival, a community-run charitable trust bringing literary events to Ayrshire, in hosting its author event at Vennel Gardens Engagement Hub in Irvine; understands that the trust aims to expand access to cultural experiences for people aged over 50; welcomes the participation of internationally acclaimed authors, Chris Brookmyre and Jenny Colgan, who delivered an engaging discussion chaired by local author, Martin Stewart; recognises what it sees as the significance of such initiatives in making literature and the arts more accessible to communities; commends the support of Cunninghame Housing Association and the Scottish Book Trust in making this event possible; notes what it sees as the positive impact of community-led literary engagement in developing social inclusion and lifelong learning, and encourages further outreach initiatives to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to experience and enjoy the literary arts.
