That the Parliament welcomes the return of the Scotland Hat Walk for the second year; understands that in 2024, two Scottish award-winning milliners held the first ever Scotland Hat Walk to raise money in helping find a cure for brain tumours; acknowledges that Leanne Cairns, from Leanne Cairns Millinery in Kilmarnock, and Lisa Jones, from Off With Her Head Millinery in Fife, organised the free event, where everyone must wear a hat, at Pittencrieff Park in Dunfermline, in the Mid Scotland and Fife region, on 7 April 2024, in collaboration with World Hat Walk, which is held in 14 locations globally, including the London Hat Walk; understands that Leanne and Lisa said they were inspired to do “something positive” after the 14-year-old daughter of one of Leanne’s close friends was diagnosed with a brain tumour; acknowledges that more than 1,000 people in Scotland are diagnosed with a brain tumour every year, and that around 400 people in the country die from high-grade brain tumours annually; notes that the Scotland Hat Walk 2025 will take place again in Pittencrieff Park on 27 April 2025 from 11.00 am; understands that the inaugural event in 2024 raised £2,500 for Brain Tumour Research, a charity that the walk supports, and that Leanne and Lisa are again looking to raise funds for the charity in 2025; notes that everyone is welcome as long as they wear a hat; commends Leanne, Lisa and all the organisers on their dedication in this regard as well as their highly magnanimous endeavours, and wishes everyone involved all the very best for a highly successful event.
