That the Parliament understands that Jean Gallagher was recognised and celebrated at the 2025 Renfrewshire Provost’s Community Awards; notes that Jean received the Community Volunteer award, which was in recognition of her 25 years of volunteering at the Johnstone Castle Learning Centre; further notes that, after being chosen from nominations submitted by her peers in the local community, Jean was invited to a special ceremony at the Glynhill Hotel, in Renfrew, to receive the award; understands that Jean, as chairperson, manages and oversees the day-to-day running of the whole of Johnstone Castle Learning Centre, including a wide range of classes and services for the local community; notes that Jean oversees a comprehensive programme of youth services; understands that Jean dedicates three nights per week to holding youth activities through the Johnstone Castle Youth Club and holds many additional sessions during the summer period; further understands that, in addition to providing many fun recreational activities for young people, the centre also hosts informative workshops on drugs, alcohol and vape use; commends Jean for committing herself to a service which, it understands, she considers helps to keep children safe; further commends Jean for, it believes, ensuring the longevity of the centre by persistently seeking funding and exploring opportunities to enable the centre to thrive; believes that it should be celebrated that such a humble and unassuming person has rightly been recognised for their important work, and thanks Jean for providing to the people of Johnstone, both young and old, a place where, it believes, they can find friendship, engage with their own community and feel included.
