That the Parliament pays tribute to David Whalley, a mountain search and rescue veteran from Burghead, in Moray, who sadly passed away after illness; notes that 72-year-old David "Heavy" Whalley was involved in frontline mountain rescue operations for almost 40 years, during which time he was part of over 1,000 rescues and played his part saving hundreds of lives; understands that this respected mountaineer dedicated his life to helping others and was not only a leader, but friend and mentor to many in the mountain rescue family; notes that David was one of the first rescuers at the scene of the Lockerbie Pam Am Flight 103 tragedy, and at that time worked tirelessly to assist the emergency services deal with this major event, and offers David’s family and friends its sympathies on the passing of this inspirational and talented individual.
