That the Parliament congratulates Dr Ijeoma Okoliegbe on being awarded the prestigious Quality in Action award at the 2025 Chief Scientific Officer’s Awards; notes Dr Okoliegbe’s role as a clinical scientist with NHS Grampian at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, specialising in infection prevention and control in the healthcare built environment; recognises her earlier contribution to the introduction of new assays for SARS-CoV-2 testing in NHS Grampian’s virology laboratory during the COVID-19 pandemic, which it understands was essential in the implementation of point-of-care respiratory virus testing at the front door assessment units; believes that this was particularly important during winter pressures, where it helped manage patient flow and downstream patient placement, facilitating early discharge and antimicrobial stewardship, and initiating treatment in the high-risk patient group; commends her commitment to the field of virology, and wishes Dr Okoliegbe well for the future.
