That the Parliament recognises the efforts of the Darvel Area Regeneration Team (DART) to complete a programme of refurbishment works, known locally as the Corner Clear Up; understands that the Corner, an award-winning community and event space in Darvel, managed by a team of local volunteers, was damaged in the record high winds during Storm Eowyn; notes that the programme of works included repairs from Twinfix, a manufacturer and installer of glazed roofing systems, cleaning of the stonework by CGM Total Property Maintenance, a family-run property maintenance business from Galston, and the creation of a mural by Rogue-one, a Glasgow street artist; acknowledges that all suppliers for the programme of works are British; notes that the subject of the mural was selected from local suggestions, with an overwhelming preference for the depiction of Sir Alexander Fleming and the discovery of penicillin, a major part of Darvel’s local history as the birthplace of Sir Alexander Fleming; welcomes the attention to regeneration on the Main Street of Darvel and the dedication to embracing local history; commends the DART volunteers on their hard work in completing the Corner Clear Up before the first official event on 9 April 2025, and wishes them all the best in the future.
