That the Parliament congratulates Dr Ijeoma Okoliegbe on receiving the Quality in Action award at the 2025 Chief Scientific Officer’s Awards for Healthcare Science; notes that Dr Okoliegbe, who specialises in infection prevention and control, is a clinical scientist based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, and was appointed to her current role in 2024, which is the first of its kind in Scotland, having first joined NHS Grampian in 2019 after completing her doctoral training in Microbiology at the University of Aberdeen; understands that the Chief Scientific Officer’s Awards, which were held as part of Healthcare Science Week, celebrate the work of healthcare scientists in Scotland, recognising innovation and transformation within NHS services, leadership within the workforce, and high-quality education and service delivery; further understands that the Quality in Action award, which Dr Okoliegbe won, recognises an individual or team that has used healthcare science to improve quality resulting in a positive impact on patients and the wider system; believes that Dr Okoliegbe’s win highlights the quality and importance of the work that healthcare scientists are doing in NHS Grampian; hopes that she is rightly proud of this achievement, and wishes her all the best with her future endeavours.
