Outstanding Work of Highland BlindCraft

That the Parliament recognises the outstanding work of Highland BlindCraft, which is a charity founded in 1881 that has been dedicated to supporting people with visual impairments across the Highlands and Western Isles; commends its efforts in providing employment, training and rehabilitation services that empower its service users to live independently and contribute meaningfully to society; acknowledges what it believes has been the charity’s historical commitment to skills development, from its early focus on basket weaving and sewing to its current expertise in manufacturing high-quality beds, mattresses and furniture; applauds its comprehensive sensory support, assistive technology and vocational training programmes, which enable people to gain essential life and work skills; applauds what it believes are the invaluable contributions of the entire Highland BlindCraft team, whose commitment ensures the delivery of exceptional products and services; understands that the collective efforts have led to significant achievements, including a notable partnership with Highland Coast Hotels, which has resulted in an order for 220 handcrafted beds, mattresses and headboards for properties such as the Plockton Inn, Royal Golf Hotel in Dornoch and Royal Marine Hotel in Brora; applauds its advocacy work in promoting accessibility and inclusion for people with sight loss, and wishes Highland BlindCraft continued success in its vital mission to enhance the lives of visually impaired people in Scotland.
