That the Parliament congratulates the retired principal clinical scientist, Alan Reid, on being presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at this 2025 Chief Scientific Officer Healthcare Science Awards; understands that the award is presented personally by the Chief Scientific Officer for Scotland and recognises a lifetime of incredible contribution to the NHS in Scotland that has made a substantial positive impact on both the NHS and population health; recognises that Alan worked in the Biochemistry department at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as a principal clinical scientist and was the scheme organiser for UK NEQAS Cardiac Markers, which is a service that was established by Alan in 1997 to provide an external quality assessment service to improve cardiac biomarker investigations in the clinical laboratory sector for the benefit of patients; notes that Alan has been commended for demonstrating excellence in workforce collaboration and clinical leadership throughout his career; commends Alan for his accomplishments in clinical science, and wishes him all the best for the future.
