That the Parliament supports the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service with the launch of its wildfire prevention campaign to highlight the risk of these fires, which, it believes, are an increasing issue in Scotland, impacting on property, infrastructure, the environment and the economy; understands that these fires place a strain on resources, which may be required elsewhere, and pose a threat to firefighters and communities; believes that the public can play a crucial role in preventing wildfires from damaging wildlife, the environment and rural communities, and encourages the public to stay alert to wildfires this spring period, as it understands that figures show that almost 80% of large outdoor fires since 2010 were recorded between March and May.
