UHI Shetland Learners Recognised at the Awards for Land-based and Aquaculture Skills (ALBAS)

That the Parliament congratulates four aquaculture learners from UHI Shetland who were recognised at the annual Awards for Land-based and Aquaculture Skills (ALBAS) ceremony hosted by Lantra Scotland in Crieff Hydro on 6 March 2025; understands that apprentice, Derek Dunning, won Aquaculture Learner of the Year, Lewis Henderson and Mary Collins were joint-runners up in the same category and that Robaidh Halliday was runner-up in the Higher Education Award BSc category; further understands that the ALBAS are organised by Lantra Scotland, the sector skills council for the land-based, aquaculture and environmental conservation industries, and that the winners and runners-up were chosen by an independent judging panel made up of influential figures from across the land-based and aquaculture sectors; considers that these awards reflect the commitment of the four Shetland learners to their courses; commends the learners on their achievements, and wishes them all the best for their future.
