Ballater Branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland Wins Best Kept War Memorial Competition

That the Parliament congratulates the Ballater branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland, on winning the Legion's competition, Scotland’s Best Kept War Memorial competition in the Small Community with Gardens category; believes that John Forsyth and Robin Phillips work tirelessly to maintain the memorial; notes that the Legion ran a fundraising event and the community raised £980; further notes that, in addition, £250 was received from the Ballater Victoria Week Duck Fund, and John Burrows donated £479.88 from the sale of his book, The Ballater Memorial; understands that, with this money, the Ballater branch was able to purchase bedding plants, oak barrel planter tubs and a bird scarer and, additionally, it installed spotlights to enable it to take part in the Poppyscotland campaign, Light Up Red, and wishes the Legion, and its Ballater branch, every success in the future.
