That the Parliament notes the beginning of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which began on the evening of 28 February and will last until around 30 March 2025, depending on the sighting of the moon; understands that Ramadan is observed as a month of prayer and reflection where Muslims worldwide engage in fasting during the hours of daylight; recognises the heightened focus on charity, giving and generosity throughout Ramadan; acknowledges what it sees as the enormous contribution that Muslim communities make to Scottish society; calls for tolerance and the free practice of peaceful religious observance around the world, and wishes the Muslim community across Scotland, and around the world a peaceful and blessed month of Ramadan.
