Newton Mearns Care Home Launches Warm Cafe Initiative

  • Submitted by: Jackson Carlaw, Eastwood, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 05 March 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-16698

That the Parliament congratulates Newton House Care Home in Newton Mearns on its work on providing a warm space where older people in the local community can meet up during periods of cold weather; understands that, in January 2025, the care home launched a Winter Warmer Cafe and that it has since been open each Wednesday afternoon; recognises that a key aim of the initiative is to tackle isolation of people who belong to an older age group and allow residents to stay connected within their local community, and congratulates Newton House Care Home again on establishing the initiative and on taking pro-active steps to support older people in Newton Mearns.
