That the Parliament congratulates the Scottish Parliament’s rugby team on securing the prestigious Coldstream Cup following a 29-27 victory over the Commons and Lords RFC; understands that the victory, which occurred at the Richmond Athletic Ground in London, was the Scottish Parliament rugby team’s first win against Commons and Lords RFC since 2017 and the first time that the Coldstream Cup will come to Scotland since its inception; recognises the strong season for the Scottish Parliament’s rugby team having secured a 10-5 win against the European Parliament XV in November 2024 and a narrow 24-32 defeat to the Irish Dáil and Seanad XV in February 2025, and notes what it sees as the importance of the founding principles of parliamentary rugby to allow parliamentarians, their staff and others who work in, or have a link to, their respective parliaments to engage with each other on an apolitical basis, to raise money for charity, and to share a common passion for rugby.
