  • Motion reference: S6M-16579

That the Parliament congratulates the Glasgow Group of the Riding Disabled Association (RDA) on receiving a £3,000 grant from the Merchants House of Glasgow; notes that the money will go towards supporting therapy sessions for disabled pupils at Govan High School; recognises that RDA Glasgow Group is about more than pony rides; understands that friendly RDA volunteers from different backgrounds come together with compassion so that riders can achieve more than what many thought possible; further understands that participants feel a huge sense of accomplishment on being presented with rosettes that recognise the new skills that they have learned; notes that over 200 disabled participants gain confidence in themselves and learn the joy of connecting with horses, which benefits their wellbeing; understands that Glasgow RDA is the only riding centre in the city of Glasgow offering adapted horse riding, stable management and "Tea with a Pony", helping disabled people of all ages experience physical and emotional rewards, and notes that Glasgow RDA provides 21 hours of RDA services each week and six hours of hippotherapy, which is physiotherapy on horseback.
