That the Parliament marks the World Health Organization’s World Hearing Day on 3 March 2025; understands that this day raises awareness on how to prevent deafness and hearing loss and promote ear and hearing care across the world; believes that deaf people in Scotland face many barriers to healthcare, including deaf children and young people, who, it understands, are between 30% and 50% more likely to experience mental health issues; understands that National Deaf Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services operates in England, and works with children and young people aged 0-18 who have severe to profound hearing loss, have deaf parents or have British Sign Language as a first language and who also experience emotional and/or behavioural issues, and believes that the Scottish Government should review best practice in England and elsewhere, in order to reduce any barriers to children and young people accessing mental health support.
