That the Parliament welcomes the latest export figures for Scottish salmon published by HM Revenue and Customs on 13 February 2025, which are reported to show record growth exceeding £800 million during 2024 across global markets, reinforcing salmon as Scotland’s most valuable food export; recognises what it sees as the vital contribution that the sector makes to rural and coastal communities across Scotland, supporting jobs, businesses, and sustainable economic growth, and also the positive impact of its supply chain across every constituency, from direct employment to supply chain benefits; considers that salmon farming plays an important role in the Shetland Islands constituency, supporting 400 jobs and having a considerable impact on the local economy through its supply chain, and calls on the Scottish Government to continue supporting what it sees as this world-class sector to ensure its long-term success and sustainability.
