Alloa-based Structural Engineering Consultancy Provides Local Apprenticeships

  • Submitted by: Alexander Stewart, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 18 February 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-16476

That the Parliament welcomes the news that two new apprentices have joined the team at an Alloa-based structural engineering consultancy; understands that CRA (Alloa) Ltd has engaged Cory Hunter and Nico Lemetti as part of its apprenticeship scheme, which takes in school leavers and provides them with employment as well as access to further education; notes that CRA (Alloa) works on many projects across Clackmannanshire, and is involved in the surveying of small- and large-scale domestic properties, which can also include supporting engineers in bridge load capacity assessments or windfarm developments and building warrant applications; believes that the young men have indicated their gratitude for this opportunity and have enjoyed being out assisting in recent structural surveys, especially after Storm Éowyn, which caused significant damage to properties; considers that, as part of the apprenticeship scheme, they will also benefit from attendance at college and university to further their learning, which will help fast-track them through their career development within CRA (Alloa) and will give them the opportunity to develop their educational base while also providing a role within a professional consultancy environment; congratulates Cory and Nico on securing their positions and wishes them all the best for the future, and commends CRA (Alloa) Ltd and its Managing Director, Jonathan Bacon, on what it regards as their forward-thinking approach and contribution to providing quality, skills-based apprenticeship employment.
