  • Submitted by: Miles Briggs, Lothian, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 13 February 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-16471

That the Parliament commends the Scottish rugby legend, Scott Hastings, and fellow members of Watsonians Football Club and Kelso Rugby Club for raising an incredible £16,500 for charity; understands that they took on a 52-mile sponsored walk from Edinburgh to Kelso in memory of their friend, Clive Millar, who played for both clubs, and another friend, Gavin Hagart; acknowledges that Clive sadly passed away from liver cancer, while Gavin lost his life to brain cancer; notes that Scott, Clive and Gavin are former alumni of George Watson’s College in Edinburgh and shared a love for rugby; appreciates that the funds raised will be split between the Margaret Kerr unit at the Borders General Hospital and St Columba’s Hospice Care, and wishes all involved the very best in their future endeavours.
