Curler Robyn Munro Carries on Family Sporting Success

  • Submitted by: Finlay Carson, Galloway and West Dumfries, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 13 February 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-16454

That the Parliament congratulates Robyn Munro on winning her first Scottish Women’s Curling Championship as part of Team Henderson, which was skipped by Faye Henderson, alongside Haylee Duff, Katie McMillan and Lisa Davie, who all now hope to be selected for the World Championships, which are being staged in South Korea in March 2025; recognises that Robyn's latest triumph comes just weeks after winning a gold medal in the mixed doubles event at the International University Sports Federation (FISU) Winter World University Games in Turin, where she was also afforded the honour of being a flagbearer; acknowledges that Robyn comes from a strong curling dynasty from Wigtownshire, which, it believes, has dominated on both the national and international stage over the years, starting with her uncle, Hammy McMillan, who won the 1999 World Championships, followed by her cousins Hammy McMillan junior and Grant Hardie, who won the 2023 World Championships; acknowledges that her mother, Gail Munro, who was recently appointed an MBE in the New Years Honours List, triumphed at the European Championship, where she won silver, and also won a Scottish championship, and wishes Robyn and her family continued success in their quest for further curling medals.
