St Thomas’ Primary School Receives High Praise from School Inspectors

That the Parliament congratulates the pupils, staff and wider community of St Thomas’ Primary School in Neilston, East Renfrewshire, upon their recent inspection report from Education Scotland; commends the headteacher Marie Kane’s leadership skills, which, it understands, have led to the confidence and happiness of pupils; recognises the work of the whole school community following a period of transition as St Thomas’ moved into a shared campus with Neilston Primary and Madras Family Centre; understands that a democratic "Pupil Parliament" has been introduced to foster relations between the two school communities, to provide a platform to enhance children’s rights and introduce elements of participatory budgeting; welcomes what it sees as the prioritisation and focus on the improvement of children's safety and rights at St Thomas’s, which, it understands, has benefitted their wellbeing; notes the use of various teaching strategies such as digital, outdoor and formative learning techniques to help children to excel in their studies, and wishes the pupils, staff and wider school community future success in advancing the school’s performance and ethos.
