  • Submitted by: Foysol Choudhury, Lothian, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 11 February 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-16395

That the Parliament welcomes recent progress towards delivering a railway station at Winchburgh, West Lothian; understands that West Lothian Council and Winchburgh Developments Ltd will act as co-promoters for the project, and are now working with Network Rail on the design work required for a business case for the station; acknowledges the reformation of the Winchburgh Steering Group with Transport Scotland, West Lothian Council, Network Rail, Winchburgh Developments Ltd and Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal; recognises what it sees as the importance of a railway station for the fast-growing town, which it understands would remove 420,000 car journeys a year; hopes for continued progress on the delivery of a station, and believes that public transport is key to meeting Scotland's climate goals.
