  • Date lodged: Monday, 10 February 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-16383

That the Parliament congratulates Luke Stoltman, from Invergordon, on being crowned Britain’s Strongest Man, having secured his first ever title in Sheffield on 3 February 2025; recognises the outstanding achievement of the 40-year-old strongman, who finished 5.5 points ahead of the runner-up, Weymouth’s Shane Flowers; considers that the significance of this victory is a testament to Stoltman’s strength, determination and resilience, particularly in light of the immense competition at the event; acknowledges what it sees as the broader impact of the Stoltman brothers on Scotland's sporting legacy, as they inspire future generations of athletes; highlights Stoltman’s reported continued rigourous mental and physical preparation, including efforts to maintain his mental health through cold-water swimming and therapy; commends Stoltman’s contribution to promoting positive mental health in men’s sport, and wishes him continued success as he prepares to compete for the World’s Strongest Man title in May 2025.
