That the Parliament congratulates the Stirling School of English on receiving The King’s Award for Voluntary Service; understands that the school is a voluntary organisation that aims to provide low-cost English language tuition to all whose first language is not English; notes that, in 2022, volunteer tutors assisted over 140 learners, including more than 70 Ukrainian refugees, in their goal to speak English; further notes that the school’s main aim is to deliver English classes that reflect students’ needs, but it also has a wider responsibility in providing opportunities for social interaction, education on Scottish culture, and assistance with practical matters relating to life in this country; acknowledges that The King’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest recognition given to volunteer groups across the UK, is equivalent to an MBE and is awarded for life; notes that the award was created in 2002 to celebrate the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee and was continued following the accession of King Charles III, and commends everyone involved, including all the volunteers and students, on their excellent endeavours for the benefit of the community.
