That the Parliament congratulates Leith Theatre Trust on being awarded National Lottery Heritage Funding to continue the regeneration and development of Leith Theatre; notes that Leith Theatre first opened in 1932, and believes that it is an important landmark; recognises that, in recent years, the venue has re-emerged as an increasingly prominent focal point for cultural rejuvenation and community activity, with staff and volunteers at Leith Theatre working to help meet various needs, most notably, it understands, during the COVID-19 pandemic, when Leith Theatre collaborated with organisations such as NHS Scotland and local food and homelessness charities; believes that this new funding will further transform Leith Theatre into a cultural hub with the potential to enrich the local community further and provide a remarkable new, intimate, exciting performance venue in the city; notes that alongside the National Lottery Heritage funding, Leith Theatre has been awarded a 50-year lease from City of Edinburgh Council, and considers that this is a vote of confidence in the venue; recognises the importance of the theatre to residents, performers, musicians and other artists alike; commends the staff, board and volunteers at Leith Theatre Trust for what it sees as their unwavering commitment to not only rebuilding and revitalising the historic building, but also positively contributing to the local community it serves and helping to ensure that it is a welcome, distinct addition to a thriving cultural offering in Scotland, and wishes Leith Theatre every success for the future.
