That the Parliament congratulates MILAN Senior Welfare Organisation, an Edinburgh-based charity that supports the health, wellbeing, and social inclusion of older South Asian communities, on securing funding from Electrical Safety First to promote awareness of electrical and fire safety in the home; notes that MILAN hosted a small appliance replacement event on 15 January 2025 to highlight the importance of electrical safety; understands that the event provided members of Edinburgh’s South Asian communities with the opportunity to have their small electrical items inspected by a qualified electrician for potential faults; recognises that language barriers can make it difficult for some individuals to stay informed about essential safety measures; welcomes this initiative to support older people and the wider South Asian community in ensuring that their electrical appliances are safe and up to standard, and commends MILAN for its efforts in raising awareness of the risks associated with unsafe electrical equipment.
