That the Parliament commends Asda on its Winter Warmer £1 meal initiative for over 60s and Kids Eat for £1 deal in its cafés, which, it understands has helped to provide an amazing 11,180 nutritious meals in the Strathkelvin and Bearsden constituency over the past year, averaging 215 meals per week; further commends the supermarket’s Chatty Cafes initiative, which helps to combat loneliness and isolation amongst older people in the local community; notes that the cafes are also made available free of charge for the use of community groups and to raise awareness of local services, as well as food bank collections and fundraising for charities; understands that the initiative is available in all Asda cafes from November 2024 until the end of February 2025, and congratulates the supermarket on what it sees as this generous project, which, it believes, has been so beneficial to the local community.
