Battlefield's Window Wanderland Returns

  • Submitted by: Annie Wells, Glasgow, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 04 February 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-16315

That the Parliament congratulates all those participating in the Battlefields Window Wanderland, which sees local houses and tenements lit up in a spectacular style; notes that the Battlefields Community Project event will run from 15 to 18 February 2025, from 6.00 pm until 9.00 pm; understands that this will be Battlefields' sixth event, with the first having taken place in October 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown; acknowledges that the theme suggested for 2025 is "Stage & Screen", but that organisers are keen to point out that anything goes, as long as it is family friendly; recognises that, in previous years, the free walking trail has seen incredible performances in front rooms, amazing projections onto buildings, dance parties, giant human jukeboxes, intricate installations, pop-up bingo halls and music filling the streets; understands that it has been described as a "magical outdoor gallery" and that previous entries, such as the "cat house", where an entire tenement worked together to create a feline-themed display, have seen the event go viral online, and notes that organisers are still accepting windows, with locals being asked to register online through the Window Wanderland website to help turn Battlefield into a magical outdoor gallery once again.
