That the Parliament recognises that the Kinneil Museum, which is located in the Kinneil Estate, where James Watt developed the modern steam engine, faces potential closure; understands that this threat comes from Falkirk Council’s cost-saving Strategic Property Review; has deep concerns about what it sees as the impact that cuts to local government funding settlements are having on the preservation of local heritage, and believes that local authorities, Historic Environment Scotland, the National Trust for Scotland and other public bodies need greater support to preserve Scotland’s unique and proud heritage.
