Apache Fundraising for the Archie Foundation

  • Submitted by: Kevin Stewart, Aberdeen Central, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 28 January 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-16246

That the Parliament congratulates the Apache Corporation for donating £40,000 to The Archie Foundation to help fund a new Storz endoscope kit at NHS Grampian’s neonatal unit in Aberdeen; understands that the donation, from Apache’s bond committee, was raised through the sale of confectionery and other items on its North Sea installations in the Beryl and Forties fields, and that is the first major gift to the Archie Foundation in the charity’s 25th anniversary year; notes that the Storz endoscope kit allows staff to monitor and manage the airwaves of premature babies or other newborns who have difficulty breathing on their own; understands that this new equipment will be used in the new Baird Family Hospital, which is currently under construction at the Foresterhill site; believes that this donation will help ensure the Baird Family Hospital will provide first class care and treatment for newborn babies, and hopes that the partnership between Apache and the Archie Foundation continues to go from strength to strength.
