Wendy Milne Trains Her 100th Guide Dog Pup

  • Submitted by: Tess White, North East Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 28 January 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-16192

That the Parliament applauds Wendy Milne from Forfar as she fosters her hundredth pup, called Lindsey, for the charity organisation, Guide Dogs; understands that Wendy has been a volunteer with Guide Dogs and fostering pups for 20 years, beginning in 2004 with her first pup, Clara; understands that, as a fosterer, Wendy spends evenings and weekends with her guide dog puppy, getting them used to her home environment as well as introducing them to new environments and familiarising them with all of the different sights and sounds when out and about; further understands that pups-in-training then spend their days at the Guide Dogs regional training centre in Forfar where they are prepared for their future and being partnered with a person with sight loss; believes that, as well as fostering one hundred pups, Wendy has also raised vital funds for Guide Dogs through making and selling dog beds and Christmas decorations, and wishes Wendy many congratulations as she continues volunteering as a guide dog-in-training fosterer.
