  • Submitted by: Brian Whittle, South Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 20 January 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-16153

That the Parliament welcomes the news that Clydesdale Community Initiatives (CCI) has been awarded a £42,399.90 grant from SP Energy Networks through its Net Zero Energy Fund to support the CCI in meeting its net zero targets; notes that the £5 million Net Zero Fund was launched in 2022 by SP Energy Networks, part of the Scottish Power group, to support vulnerable communities and ensure that no one is left behind on the country’s journey to net zero emissions; further notes that it directly supports organisations within SP Energy Networks’ Transmission areas that have green ambitions and are looking to decarbonise their communities across central and southern Scotland; understands that CCI will be using its grant to install solar PV to reduce the running costs of its buildings, to allow it to continue to support individuals with learning disabilities, long-term mental health issues and to run community development activities referred through social work, NHS and third sector charities; notes that CCI is an independent charity that supports people to contribute to their community, despite any barriers that they face, by improving their health, learning new skills, increasing their confidence and finding new opportunities; congratulates CCI on its award, and wishes the charity and all its volunteers and participants all the best in their future endeavours.
