Former Scotland Rugby Captain, Peter Brown, Passes Away

  • Submitted by: Sharon Dowey, South Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 15 January 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-16133

That the Parliament notes with great sadness, the death of former Scotland Rugby Union Men's Team Captain, Peter Currie Brown of Troon; understands that Peter won 27 Scotland caps, played eight Test matches for the British and Irish Lions, and played alongside his late brother, Gordon Brown, known as "Broon frae Troon" in 12 international matches; further understands that Peter played in the Marr College school First XV in his youth, and that the 66 points Peter created for Scotland, still stands to this day as the record for the most points delivered by a forward; recognises Peter's legacy as a giant of Scottish rugby, and extends its heartfelt condolences to his family and many friends.
