That the Parliament congratulates Castlemilk Youth Complex (CYC) on 30 years since it opened its doors in an explosion of creativity, invention and fun; understands that the centre was aimed at giving children and teenagers the chance to get involved in music and the arts, to raise their aspirations and help them find new opportunities; believes that it also helped defeat gang culture and knife crime in the area, diverting young people away from the streets and into a vibrant, safe and exciting environment; notes that, to mark the anniversary, CYC has worked with the University of Glasgow researcher, Brian Keenan, to compile words, pictures and audio and video clips documenting the last three decades of inspirational youth work in Castlemilk; understands that the result is a creative, funny and moving display, which includes the voices and pictures of former participants, volunteers, staff and board members; understands that CYC is Scotland's biggest independent youth organisation and offers a vital service to young people all across Glasgow, and believes that the complex is highly respected by its local community, working with more than 9,000 young people over the years, and creating a better future by inspiring young people to recognise, raise and achieve their aspirations.
