Celebrating the New Glasgow Fast X1 Bus Service Between Hamilton and Glasgow City Centre

  • Submitted by: Monica Lennon, Central Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 06 January 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-15989

That the Parliament welcomes the reintroduction of an express bus service between Hamilton and Glasgow city centre; notes that the new Glasgow fast X1 service will be operated by JMB Travel from 13 January 2025, running up to every hour from Monday to Saturday; believes that the withdrawal of the X1 Hamilton to Glasgow by another operator was a huge loss to the community; commends local residents and community groups, including Earnock Residents Association and the former Hillhouse Community Council, for fighting against the withdrawal of the X1 and not giving up; believes that the announcement by JMB Travel will particularly benefit residents in Hillhouse, High Earnock, Fairhill and Low Waters, and support better connectivity between Hamilton town centre and Glasgow, Cathedral Street and Buchanan Bus Station, direct via the M74 and M8; encourages people to make regular use of the new X1 from January 2025, and wishes JMB Travel and the new pool of regular drivers all the very best as they prepare to welcome passengers onboard.
