  • Submitted by: Tim Eagle, Highlands and Islands, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 18 December 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15927

That the Parliament congratulates La Balena restaurant in Stornoway on winning the Best Restaurant in the North award at the 2024 Scottish Italian Awards in Glasgow; understands that La Balena also received a Highly Recommended accolade in the Best Family Run Business category; recognises that La Balena was established just over a year ago by Matteo Giovanazzi, after he and his family moved to Stornoway; notes that Matteo has a background in the hospitality industry, having previously been head chef at his uncle’s restaurant, Caffé Parma, in Glasgow; believes that this award is recognition of the hard work that has been put into establishing this popular local business, and wishes Matteo, his family and the staff at La Balena the best for the future.
