  • Submitted by: Annabelle Ewing, Cowdenbeath, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 16 December 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15872

That the Parliament congratulates the parent council at Denend Primary School, in Cardenden, on being shortlisted as one of the top three nominations in the Community Initiative of the Year Category at the Parentkind PTA Awards 2024; recognises that the parent council raised over £20,000 in 2023, funding vital playground improvements and hosting free community-focused events, including seasonal discos, pantomimes and treats for all pupils; considers that these initiatives make sure that no child misses out, creating moments of joy and togetherness for families in the area; notes that this award category is for a project that specifically engages the school with the local community, and that this award is for the successful cohesion between the school body and local businesses, residents and other community groups, and further notes that there were over 100 nomination in a process that was open to parent councils and parent-teacher associations in Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
