Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue

  • Submitted by: Craig Hoy, South Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 13 December 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15862

That the Parliament commends the work of Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue during this busy time of the year; understands that, in October 2024, the team experienced its busiest month on record, spending almost 400 hours attending 13 incidents, including missing person searches, evacuating hillwalkers, and treating injured mountain bikers; further understands that, as a charity, the team relies on donations to keep operating; recognises that 30% of call-outs are for missing people and that the team is currently campaigning to raise £3,000 for thermal imaging camera equipment to assist it in carrying out this work as it moves into the darker months, and encourages the Scottish Government to support what it sees as these vital services.
