  • Submitted by: Clare Haughey, Rutherglen, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 09 December 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15777

That the Parliament congratulates Gilbert "Gilly" Feron on receiving the Community Champion Award at the recent Voluntary Action South Lanarkshire Awards in recognition of his over 30 years of volunteering with the Cambuslang-based charity, LEAP; notes that Gilly was commended for his tireless championing of the welfare of older people and for helping the organisation support thousands of people across Lanarkshire every year; understands that LEAP also won the Grassroots Organisation Award at the same ceremony in recognition of its efforts in offering learning and leisure activities and for supporting older people with befriending, handyperson and dementia services, which, it believes, are all enormously valued in the  community, and wishes Gilly, and all of the staff and volunteers at LEAP, all the very best in their future endeavours.
