Congratulating Norrie Murray on his Retirement After 21 Years of Service at Ralston Skills Centre

  • Submitted by: Neil Bibby, West Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 05 December 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15751

That the Parliament congratulates Norrie Murray following his announcement that he would be retiring from assisting at Ralston Skills Centre on 7 December 2024 after 21 years; notes that, appropriately, given the nature of the centre, this will be on a Saturday morning; understands that Norrie first became involved in helping there after his son Tom, who was in P2 at the time, asked him to stay during a session that he was attending; recognises that the Ralston Skills Centre is a community sports club that provides physical activity for school-aged children every Saturday morning, with a wide range of different sports available; notes that, since Norrie announced his plan to retire, he has received dozens of messages, including from current coaches, people who used the service in the past when children themselves and the parents of current users, thanking him for all of his work over the years, and understands that, although Norrie is stepping back from the usual Saturday sessions, he has made himself available to help out in the background.
