Arbuthnott Postie's Service to the Community

  • Submitted by: Tess White, North East Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 04 December 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15726

That the Parliament recognises the efforts of Royal Mail employee Shona Brown, who has served the village of Arbuthnott, in the Mearns, for almost 25 years; believes that Shona is a role model, showing meticulous knowledge of the local area and the households in it, including the names of family members and pets; considers that her level of care and attention to detail have been invaluable to the whole community, especially during the COVID-19 lockdown, when she would regularly check on vulnerable residents from the safety of her van; understands that her friendly face is a treasured lifeline to some across the rural community, where loneliness and isolation can be an issue from time to time; further understands that her efforts are much appreciated by the village of Arbuthnott, especially the community council, and wishes Shona many more years serving her community.
