  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 03 December 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15700

That the Parliament congratulates Isle of Harris Distillery on winning a trio of major awards at the 2024 Scottish Whisky Awards ceremony in Glasgow; understands that Isle of Harris Distillery picked up the coveted Scottish Whisky Distillery of the Year award, as well as winning the Product Launch of the Year and Newcomer of the Year awards for its whisky product, The Hearach; acknowledges that in deciding the various winners of the awards, event organisers blind tasted over 200 Scotch whiskies produced by more than 60 Scottish distilleries and independent bottlers; notes that the Isle of Harris Distillery opened in October 2015 and commenced production in December 2015 and that it initially launched Isle of Harris gin that same year before releasing its first single malt whisky in 2023; recognises what it sees as the important role that the distillery plays as a local employer on the Isle of Harris, and wishes everyone involved at the Isle of Harris Distillery continued success.
