That the Parliament congratulates Prestwick Airport on its fifth consecutive year of profit; considers that this unique Ayrshire asset has revenue streams spanning passenger travel, cargo operations, general aviation, fuel supply and property and believes that it is vital to the Ayrshire economy and the continued success of the aerospace sector; further considers that a number of new partnerships have helped to secure strong growth that will drive expansion in the high-demand cargo sector; understands that the airport is also set to announce another strategic partnership with a US airport, which aims to establish a new transatlantic cargo corridor, which will initially focus on aerospace shipments such as engines, engine parts, and specialised tooling; further understands that the airport continues to service its scheduled passengers with its long-term relationship with Ryanair and a new five-year agreement for passenger services, resulting in a new winter route in 2024 and an increase in the frequency of flights next summer, and warmly welcomes the decision by the Scottish Government to save the airport in 2013.
