That the Parliament welcomes the new report from Muscular Dystrophy UK, Missing people, Missing support; acknowledges its focus on the importance of access to specialist services and support for people living with muscle wasting and weakening conditions; recognises that this includes the need for specialised professionals, as recommended by the Scottish Muscle Network, to provide services to neuromuscular patients, the appointment of a muscular dystrophy champion in each NHS board and the improvement of local service accessibility; further recognises what it sees as the unique challenges faced by people in Scotland living with muscle wasting and weakening conditions who are being left unaccounted for, with, it understands, their needs overlooked due to missing data from NHS boards; supports the report’s recommendations, and commends the charity for its tireless advocacy on behalf of people living with muscle wasting and weakening conditions across Scotland.
